Anticipate Christ’s Return

All

“So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
(Matthew 24:26-27 ESV).

Billy Graham once said that the end “will come with the return of Jesus Christ… That is why a Christian can be an optimist. That is why a Christian can smile in the midst of all that is happening. We know what the end will be: the triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Another way to put this: In the end, God wins. Before Jesus left his followers he promised that he would return. His return will truly be an end-of-the-world event as he rids creation of brokenness and evil.

It can be difficult to live life in a way that keeps this future reality in focus. So often other things distract us. How might it look for you today to live in a way that demonstrates this anticipation?

Action: Anticipate Jesus’ return through the way you relate to others. Do you live in a way that reveals you believe Jesus will have ultimate victory over evil? Pray for the faith to believe that Jesus will return and do what he says he will do.
