He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the LORD has spoken (Isaiah 25:8)
Isaiah 25 paints a picture of a people who are waiting in anticipation for the God of history to bring about an end to the suffering and brokenness experienced in this world. Verse 9 continues to say: It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
We should pray in confidence that God has not abandoned us. He is faithful to complete the work he began in Jesus and we are called to wait with patient anticipation for the salvation he promises his people. What brokenness exists in your life right now? Maybe it’s an illness or grief. Perhaps you are struggling to understand how a good God allows for such difficult things to exist.
Action: Spend time this week in reflection and ask God to give you confidence as you anticipate the work he is doing in your life.
