Every night before bed, when I’m putting my kids to bed we go through a series of bible verses. One of them is 1 Corinthians 10:31 which says “whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” The first question of the Westminster Confession of Faith asks “What is the chief end of man?” and the given answer is to “glorify God and enjoy him forever.”
Often in life, there’s a narrative we subscribe to that says following God and the ways of God exists in parallel with having fun and enjoying life. This mentality can not be further from the truth! God has created and designed a world that proclaims his glory and when we enjoy it we are actively worshiping God!
Today, whether it’s a meal, a sweet conversation, the sunset, dreary weather, or whatever it is - know that God has created and established it and it exists for his glory. Let’s be intentional in lifting our head towards him, reflecting in gratitude, and enjoying the good things he has created.
