I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! You have multiplied, O Lord my god, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with You! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.
Psalm 40:1-5
Waiting… it typically isn’t something we enjoy doing especially when we are waiting on God to move! The beginning of this Psalm draws us to a point of reflection as to when we have waited on the Lord to move as we cry out. Thankfully- he is faithful to deliver us! But, how often do we praise him in the waiting? And when he does deliver us, are we eager to praise him as we remember what he’s done and what he brought us out of? As the Psalm also says, blessed is the man who trusts in God! As we grow in trusting the Lord, may we grow in the frequency of praise as we both wait on Him and remember what He has done for us!
Action:
Are you waiting for the Lord to move? Have you taken it to him directly? Maybe you can find some time to praise him as you take it to him! Praise him for the work he will be doing! Maybe you aren’t currently waiting, but you’ve been there! Take some time to praise him as you remember what he’s done for you! And maybe you’d like to do this through song, so here is a link to a great song of praise that draws some lyrics directly from Psalm 40!
