And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Ephesians 6:18)
Paul encourages us to always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. What does it mean for us to pray for Christians in places that are foreign to us? How can we pray for Christians in Ukraine? How can we pray for Christians in China? How can we pray for Christians in Sweden or Venezuala or Japan? Or Russia?
Pray for all the Lord’s people, knowing that we are eternally bound together. Pray for the protection and faithfulness and fruitfulness of Christians where being a believer is illegal or difficult - where the faith costs them something.
Pray for all the Lord’s people, knowing that many are poor and don’t have good medical care for themselves or their families, knowing they may be relatively unprotected from crime or violence, knowing they may not be safe in their home country and are on the run, seeking asylum.
We are called to pray for believers even if we don’t completely understand their context or culture or language. Pray for all the Lord’s people by continually giving them over to the blessing and protection of Jesus.
Action: Pick a part of the world and pray for believers there - perhaps this week pray for believers in Europe, next week pray for believers in Asia, the following week pray for believers in Africa. Pray for God’s protection and provision and blessing for His kingdom all over the world.
