Psalm 145

The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
Psalm 145:9

Read Psalm 145. Notice the way the author blends celebrating the Lord with confessing his own limitations. For example, verse 3 reads, "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable." God is great! And, He is far beyond me.

Praise works that way. It frames my experience from the perspective of my Creator - a way of seeing things I deeply crave. The incredible thing is that praising God doesn't diminish myself; rather, praise affirms who God is and who I am in His light. It's okay to both find mercy and to need it.

Read Psalm 145 again. But this time (if you are able), read it aloud. Punctuate both parts of the praise as it is presented - celebrating the Lord and your own limits in the same stanzas.
