And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).
This season is described by the word “anticipation.” Throughout Scripture, God promises certain things for his people: In the prophets, God promised to send the Messiah, Jesus promised to be with his disciples to the end of the age, and Jesus promises to return again. Faith requires living in a way that we believe these promises. This doesn’t mean that doing so is always easy, but we can trust that God is at work in every situation to bring about good.
We should pray that our desires are in line with God’s will. In this particular season, may we anticipate God’s faithfulness to his mission and purposes and may we anticipate that God will continue to show himself to be faithful in and through our church.
Action: What does it look like for you to live in such a way that demonstrates confidence as you anticipate God working things together for good? Spend some time this week in reflection and then ask God to help you anticipate well.
