Mid Rivers Campus

Calvary’s Adult on-going studies and classes for both women and men offer an opportunity to connect with God and with one another through a variety of studies and schedules to fit your needs.

Studies & Classes for Fall 2024 will begin on September 3 and consist of two five-week sessions ending November 12 (with a break the week of October 8). These classes are for men and women and there are no prerequisites for registering for a class. Doors open at 6 PM. Come early for coffee and fellowship. Classes begin at 6:30 and finish at 8 PM.

Session 1: September 3 - October 1

Sermon on the Mount Pt 1 (Beth Wade)

Join us around the table to discuss what it means for us to live out the teachings of Jesus. We will begin with the Sermon on the Mount, learn how Jesus intended us to pray, and finish up reading from several of Paul’s letters to the early churches. We’ll also take a look at how these teachings, sometimes challenging and puzzling, are rooted in the Old Testament, and how we have always been meant to thrive amid the struggles and uncertainty of life, then and now. Each week we will listen to a portion of the scripture read aloud and then discuss its meaning. No preparation/no homework. Previous Bible study may be helpful but is not necessary. This is a low-key, user-friendly approach to reading, understanding and applying scripture to our lives.

Spiritual Growth (Dan Borth)

When Jesus matters most, transformation follows! This 5-week course helps participants in key ways - clarity about the good news of Jesus, Christian identity, Christian community, resilience, and evangelism - all with the result of growing in the grace of God.

A Daughter of God (Marilyn Pavia) - Women Only

In today’s world we get lost in all of the circumstances that engulf our lives. We are so busy surviving we lose who we really are and then find we are exhausted, spent, and too tired to work on our own recovery. As hard as we can try to regain momentum, we may find our soul’s energy is depleted. In this study, we will identify WHO we are and HOW God sees women as an essential part of His kingdom and plan. Looking interactively at the Word and studying women from all walks of life each week will help to build our understanding of the importance of our role as “daughters of the King.”

Story Work Pt 1 (Carrie Bradley) - REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS IS CLOSED DUE TO CAPACITY

We are best known—and our stories are best seen—in the company of others. The Story Work is a profound course that invites you deeply into the themes of your life by writing and sharing a story from your childhood in a supportive and facilitated small group. You’ll experience attunement, insight, and wisdom as you seek to understand, write, tell, and live your story in deeper and more transformative ways. Your story is waiting to be told in bold, beautiful, and life-changing ways.

Session 2: October 15 - November 12

Sermon on the Mount Pt 2 (Beth Wade)

Join us around the table to discuss what it means for us to live out the teachings of Jesus. We will begin with the Sermon on the Mount, learn how Jesus intended us to pray, and finish up reading from several of Paul’s letters to the early churches. Family Ministries: Technology & Family (Dan Borth)

Do you feel in-over-your-head as a parent trying to keep up with an ever-changing technological world? How do we make decisions regarding safe and healthy habits for technology for our kids? What sorts of things do we need to be aware of? In this interactive 5-week workshop, we’ll create space to learn from one another. There’s no homework required, but we will be referencing Andy Crouch's The Tech Wise Family.

Missions: Calvary Missions (Jacob Schoettle)

Have you ever asked, "Who does Calvary support?" Or thought, "I want to know more about Calvary's missions partners, but I don't know where to find it." This class is for you! A Calvary-supported partner will join us each week to share about themselves and their ministry. This class is a great way to learn first-hand about Calvary missionaries and what God is doing locally and around the world. Each class will start with prayer and a short Bible study. Our partner will share, and then we'll have time for Q&A. We will close in prayer.
