Night of Prayer | October 19

As Election Day approaches, we want to gather as a church to remember what is ultimately true: Jesus is King, His Kingdom is our first allegiance, and He has called us to faithfully love our neighbors and seek their good. Our hope is not in political parties or outcomes, but the reign of Jesus should shape how we engage the world around us. Calvary’s philosophy of engagement calls us to participate as faithful citizens without identifying the gospel with a particular political party, remembering that our highest priority is the Kingdom of Christ. A Biblical Philosophy of Social Engagement.

This election also places important questions before Missouri voters, including Amendment 3 and issues concerning the value of human life. As a church, we affirm that every person bears the image of God and therefore possesses God-given dignity and worth, and that every human life belongs to Him. What We Affirm Concerning our Shared Humanity.

Join us October 19 from 6:00–7:00 PM in the Chapel for a Night of Prayer. We’ll briefly consider how Scripture shapes our responsibility as followers of Jesus—to love our neighbors, refuse to make enemies out of the very people we are called to reach, and vote according to convictions formed by God’s Word. Then we’ll spend the majority of our time praying: for our community and state, for our leaders and neighbors, for the upcoming election, and above all that we would faithfully represent Jesus regardless of its outcome.
